Sharpness and edge geometry: The blade is finished with a 15° V-shaped, double-bevel edge honed using traditional water-based sharpening methods. That acute angle is intended to produce clean, precise cuts across vegetables, fruit, and boneless proteins with minimal drag.
Blade construction: The cutting core is VG10 high-carbon stainless steel surrounded by 67 alternating layers of Damascus cladding. Heat-treated to around 58–60 HRC, the blade is designed for solid edge retention under normal domestic use — typically remaining serviceable for several weeks to a few months before a touch-up is needed.
Handle and balance: The handle is an octagonal profile formed from rosewood and ebony, fitted on a full-tang spine for balance and stability. The ergonomic shape aims to reduce hand fatigue and provide a secure, sweat-resistant grip during prolonged prep work.
Surface finish and corrosion resistance: A sandblasted surface treatment yields a matte look that highlights the Damascus pattern while improving surface resistance. The steel chemistry includes elevated chromium content (reported above 14%), and the blade has been subjected to a 24-hour salt spray test to demonstrate rust resistance.
Included items and support: The package includes the 7-inch Santoku, a user manual with care instructions, a wiping cloth for routine maintenance, and after-sales support for customer satisfaction. The knife is meant for typical home kitchen tasks like chopping, slicing, dicing, and mincing.
Pros
- Very sharp 15° double-bevel edge for precise cuts
- 67-layer Damascus cladding with VG10 core for durability
- Comfortable octagonal rosewood/ebony handle and full-tang balance
Cons
- Layer pattern and finish can vary between pieces
- Edge will need occasional honing with regular heavy use
- Wood handle requires mindful care to stay in top condition
VerdictThis 7-inch Santoku combines a finely honed 15° V-edge with a VG10 core and decorative 67-layer Damascus cladding for solid home-kitchen performance. The octagonal rosewood/ebony handle and full-tang build offer good balance and control. Finish and fit can vary between examples, but sharpness, rust resistance, and handling make it a practical choice for regular slicing, dicing, and mincing.

Well-made Santoku with a keen edge
This 7-inch Santoku looks premium and feels like a proper tool. The layered Damascus motif and traditional wooden octagonal handle give it a refined, Japanese-inspired profile. The factory edge is keen and the 15° double-bevel slices vegetables, fruit, and boneless meats smoothly. The VG10 core with 67-layer cladding provides solidity without making the blade unwieldy, and the sandblasted matte finish complements the pattern while offering a subdued surface. The handle is comfortable and the balance helps with control during extended chopping sessions.

Not up to category standards
Disappointing performance for the style. The Damascus layering looks uneven in places and the edge arrived only passable. It’s attractive, but it underdelivers where it counts.

Slicing is effortless
A superb chef's blade that cuts through produce with very little effort.

Surpassed my hopes
This knife has outperformed expectations. I use it for daily prep and haven't needed to sharpen it yet. With proper care it’s a dependable addition to my set.

Excellent balance and great for sashimi
Honestly one of my favorite purchases. I lent it to my sushi-chef boss and he loved it—he even asked me to order one for him. I bought a second because it’s worth it; it’s very light and precise when slicing sashimi.

Solid mid-range chef knife option
An 8-inch VG10 Damascus chef knife like this sits between entry-level mass-market pieces and higher-end Japanese makers. The VG10 core wrapped in 67 layers is a common and sensible combo for balancing sharpness, durability, and corrosion resistance. Real value depends on fit-and-finish, balance, and consistency across brands. The thin, slightly curved gyuto-style profile with a taller blade height works well for knuckle clearance. It arrived very sharp and I could slice apples and oranges paper-thin right out of the box.
