Product review
Constructed from flexible, food‑grade TPU material that is free from BPA, this Unigear water reservoir is designed for everyday outdoor hydration. The bladder undergoes pressure testing for leakage resistance and is intended for direct fill with water or ice.
The reservoir is offered in four capacities—1.5 L, 2 L, 2.5 L and 3 L—so you can choose the volume that fits your pack and activity. The low‑profile shape reduces fluid movement inside a backpack, helping maintain pack stability during fast hiking or running.
A wide top opening allows for simple filling, easy access for brushes or drying, and the option to add ice cubes straight from a scoop or ice dispenser. The mouthpiece is soft and designed for comfortable sipping and includes an integrated shut‑off to stop flow when not in use.
Features commonly included are the reservoir itself, a quick‑release or snap‑in hose connection with O‑ring seal for easy removal, and a screw cap with a carrying handle. A cleaning kit can be purchased separately depending on your needs.
Pros
- Food-grade, non‑BPA TPU construction
- Large opening for easy filling and cleaning
- Quick‑release hose and shut-off bite valve
Cons
- Some units report restricted water flow
- O‑ring must be seated correctly to avoid leaks
- Filler cap can be bulky and heavy for some users
VerdictA practical, budget-friendly hydration reservoir that delivers reliable performance for day hikes, running and multi-day treks. It’s made from non‑BPA TPU, fits most packs, and cleans easily thanks to a wide opening and removable hose. Minor issues reported include occasional flow restriction, sensitivity to O‑ring placement, and a bulky filler cap on some units.

Careful with the O‑ring placement
Make sure the hose O‑ring is seated in the groove nearest the end; if it’s out of place the reservoir will leak badly. Apart from that, it’s a capable alternative to name brands.

Flow can be limited on some pieces
Experienced restricted water flow—bite valve slit seemed too small and the hose connection sometimes wouldn’t open fully. Not sure if mine was defective or a design problem.

Good fit for a compact pack
Pleased to find a matching replacement after losing my original. It slides into my small Camelbak perfectly and has performed without issues so far.

Direct replacement for Camelbak units
Needed a substitute for an older Camelbak reservoir and this dropped in perfectly. The bite valve behaves like the OEM piece and the fit was spot on.

Affordable option that performs reliably
Fits both day packs and multi‑day setups. No leaks after regular use, easy to fill and operate. Holds just under 3 L, which covers my needs, and the shut‑off valve worked flawlessly. Bought a second one.

Great choice for long training runs
The 1.5 L carried me through a 13‑mile run with minimal bounce. It fit my hydration pack well, the tubing length and valve control were suitable, and I used it multiple times with good results.

1.5L works well in Rogue packs
If you own a Rogue pack this fits almost like the original. Arrived intact with no leaks, same neck size, and it sits in the pouch as expected. Dimensionally it’s a very close match.

Dependable for backcountry use
Used on a long backcountry outing; the wide opening made filling from lakes straightforward. No leaks, the quick‑connect works with an inline filter after cutting the tube, and the mouthpiece still draws well.

Useful but clip may detach
Owned for a year and it handled hikes well. The only issue is the hook can come off my Osprey Daylite Plus too easily. Refilling is simple and I didn’t detect any off taste.

Excellent — meets the specs
Product matches the description and performs as advertised.

Better in key areas than a competitor
Compared to another brand, the mouthpiece didn’t leak with the valve open and the quick‑release connector makes cleaning easy. Material feels supple and robust. The filler cap is large and heavy, and I worry about valve longevity.

Starts well but failed after two years
Initially performed as expected—no leaks and good tubing. After two years the seal failed and it began leaking, and the mouthpiece also broke.

Solid design; cleaning removes plastic taste
Replaced a cracked connector with this model; the hose snaps into the base with an O‑ring which simplifies cleaning. I sanitized it with warm vinegar, then baking soda, then lemon soaks to cut plastic flavor — that helped a lot.
