Magnetic Travel Chess Set — 7.9-inch Portable Folding Board

Product review

This compact travel chess kit includes a folding board and a full complement of chess pieces stored inside the case when closed. The board folds in half to form a slim carrying shell, and the interior has dedicated space to keep every piece organized during transit.

All components are molded from durable ABS plastic with a matte finish that resists scratches and handles spills. The pieces are precision-formed and seat into shallow recesses on the board; small embedded magnets hold them in place so they don’t topple or slide while you move the set.

At 7.9 inches across when folded closed, the board creates a modest but comfortable playing surface when opened. Its compact footprint and lightweight profile make it simple to stash in a daypack, briefcase, or luggage for travel, school, or a coffee break.

Designed for portable use, the magnetic attraction keeps pieces upright on uneven surfaces such as train seats, car trays, or park benches. The resilient ABS shell is crush-resistant enough for regular handling by teens and adults, and the spill-tolerant material wipes clean easily after outdoor sessions.

Setup is straightforward: unfold the board, slot each piece into its square, and play. After the game, return pieces to their compartments and close the case for compact storage. The set suits casual players, learners, and anyone who wants reliable chess while away from home.

VerdictThis 7.9-inch magnetic travel chess set delivers dependable play while traveling. Rugged ABS construction and recessed, magnet‑seated pieces keep the set intact through commutes and outdoor use. It’s a practical pick for casual players, students, and families who want a durable, easy-to-store chess option without sacrificing stability.
