What’s included: a set of 12 white safety catches, model L181, intended for childproofing cupboards and drawers.
Materials and size: each latch is molded from durable white plastic and measures approximately 3.5 inches long by 1 inch wide, sized to fit most standard cabinet frames and drawer faces.
How it works: the latch is hidden from view once mounted to preserve cabinet aesthetics. To open a protected drawer or door, pull the drawer slightly and press the catch down to release. Sliding the drawer or door closed engages the catch automatically so it locks without extra steps.
Where to mount: the catches are designed for top or side mounting on most cabinet boxes and are suitable for top drawers. They can also be fitted to lower drawers provided there is a top divider or a mounting surface for the catch to engage against.
Installation notes: these are screw-mounted units — alignment is important for reliable operation. Pre‑marking and predrilling pilot holes will make fitting easier; installation usually requires a screwdriver or a drill for speed and accuracy. Because they are compact and low-profile, they remain largely out of sight after installation.
Pros
- Low-profile, concealed design
- Auto-locks on closure; simple release
- Twelve latches in one pack
Cons
- Requires drilling and precise alignment
- Plastic can crack under heavy force
- Not suitable for every drawer style
VerdictThese white plastic safety catches provide a straightforward, discreet way to childproof many cabinets and drawers. They auto-lock on closure and open with a simple pull-and-press motion. Installation takes a drill and careful alignment, and while most users find them reliable, heavier drawers or misaligned fittings can stress the plastic. Handy and easy to install
Useful for the home and reasonably simple to fit when you have basic tools.

Good quality, check compatibility first
Product feels well made, though initial installation can be fiddly. Verify the door or drawer style will accept this latch before buying, as it won’t fit every furniture type.

Effective but needs wood drilling
Very practical. Installation is a bit tricky because you have to drill into the wood, but once mounted they perform well.

Stands up to a lot of wear
Bought these twice because my toddler bangs and yanks cabinet doors constantly. Most have survived repeated abuse; only one failed where a garbage can shifted and prevented a proper close, forcing the latch to break.

Quick thanks — they work
Very happy with them. They do the job.

Does what it should
They keep little hands out and I was comfortable installing them. If I need more I’ll order the same set. Time will tell how they handle being moved between cabinets.

Installed solo and doing the job
Installed these myself with a drill and pencil for marking. They’ve kept my 15‑month‑old away from utensils and under‑sink cleaners. The kit includes extras and the catches have held up to forceful tugs so far; he can still pull a few towels but mostly gave up.

Too long and too brittle for us
Disappointed — the length still let my kids reach in and the plastic felt too stiff. The latch snapped after repeated opening attempts and didn’t stop them from getting into drawers, so we swapped to another brand.

Keeps kids out but breaks with heavy momentum
They are effective at preventing access, but I keep breaking them when drawers with silverware swing shut. Replacing takes a few minutes, but frequent failure is annoying even if replacement cost is low.

Good quantity for the price, but fragile parts
Twelve latches is great value. A couple of screw heads and one latch head broke during fitting, but after a month they’ve held up. Tip: always install the provided catch 'pocket' rather than relying on a drawer stud to catch it.

Straightforward if you can handle basic tools
If you can drill and line things up these are easy to fit. Attach the cabinet side first, mark the mate, predrill, then screw in place. No issues once aligned — I don’t see why others find it difficult.

Works after careful fitting
I installed three in about 30 minutes. They required predrilling and careful marking to ensure they lock properly. Once aligned they work well and gave me peace of mind about cleaning supplies.
