Protect-A-Bed AllerZip encasements are full-wrap mattress shields designed to cover all six sides of a mattress to block bed bugs, dust mites, allergens and liquids. Each item is a single, zippered encasement that slips over the mattress (box spring options available separately), then closes with the patented Bug Lock zipper system to create a pest- and allergen-proof seal.
The outer face is a soft, smooth fabric that sits comfortably beneath sheets, while an inner Liquidry waterproof membrane provides an impenetrable moisture barrier. That Liquidry layer is engineered to be highly breathable and whisper quiet, avoiding the crinkly noise common to some waterproof protectors. The fabric is treated with FUZE antimicrobial protection to reduce odors and help limit microbial growth.
Sizing is built to accommodate deeper mattresses: stretch-fit corners let the encasement fit beds from approximately 11 inches up to 18 inches in depth. Construction is aimed at durability and routine care — the encasement is machine washable on hot (the manufacturer recommends washing at 130°F to eliminate dust mites and other allergens) and can be tumble dried according to care instructions.
Installation is straightforward: pull the cover over the mattress, adjust the corners, and engage the Bug Lock zip closure for a complete seal. For comprehensive bedroom hygiene, the encasement is often paired with additional protectors and pillow covers to protect the entire sleep surface from top to bottom.

This cover isn’t plasticky — it’s firmer than cotton but not scratchy, and I always use a fitted sheet over it. It establishes a clear barrier around the mattress; combined with an air filter nearby it reduced the symptoms I get when getting into bed. Overall it helped control the particle exposure that was triggering my problems.
