Waterproof and built to endure: The float unit carries an IP68 rating (validated at 3 meters for 48 hours). The outer shell is molded from impact-resistant plastic while internal electrical contacts are made from materials chosen to resist corrosion. The mechanism is specified to exceed 500,000 switching cycles at its rated load and is rated for operation in temperatures up to 130°F (54°C).
Simple plug-and-play hookup: The piggyback receptacle lets you connect most 120V and 240V sump, sewage, effluent, and submersible well pumps without hardwiring. Plug the pump into the switch’s receptacle, then plug the switch into a grounded outlet. A 10-foot UL-listed cable provides flexibility for placement inside common sump basins and pits, eliminating complicated wiring or an electrician in most installations.
Automatic level control: The floating actuator senses rising and falling liquid levels and mechanically opens or closes the circuit to start or stop the pump. It is designed for intermittent duty—ideal as a “set and forget” solution to stop frequent on/off cycling, reduce motor wear, and prevent unnecessary run time.
Multiple mounting options: The package includes a hand-tighten butterfly clamp that secures the float to a discharge pipe or directly to the pump body. That makes this unit suitable as a direct replacement for a failed factory float or as a spare/backup switch to guard against switch failures and basement flooding.
Where it fits: The device is compatible with most standard sump basins, sewage pits, septic and effluent systems, water tanks, pools, and ponds thanks to its universal piggyback plug and 10 ft cable. The manufacturer provides round-the-clock customer support and a two-year warranty for added confidence during installation and use.
Pros
- IP68-rated, impact-resistant construction
- Plug-and-play piggyback design with 10 ft UL cord
- Includes clamp for flexible mounting options
Cons
- Intended for intermittent, not continuous, duty
- 10 ft cable may limit very deep installations
- Check amp rating to match your pump
VerdictA rugged, no-frills float switch designed for reliable automatic level control. Its impact-resistant housing, corrosion-resistant contacts, and IP68 water resistance make it suitable for basins, sewage pits, and tanks. Plug-and-play piggyback design and 10 ft UL cable simplify installation and reduce the need for electrical work. Intended for intermittent operation, it protects pumps from short cy

Runs correctly whichever way it's positioned
I bought this piggyback float after my pump started cycling oddly. It arrived with two gear clamps and a short instruction sheet. I bench-tested it by tilting the float and it switched a lamp as expected. Nice touch: it activated reliably in either orientation, so installation didn’t require fussy alignment.

Appears reliable so far
Build quality seems solid, though long-term durability remains to be seen. The switch functions as expected. It’s rated 16 amps at 110V, which covers a 1 HP motor without extension cords. The 10-foot cable is convenient; overall a practical choice.

Straightforward replacement
Needed a replacement float in my sump pit and this fit cleanly. The piggyback plug and included clamps matched my previous setup. The instructions are basic but sufficient; installation was quick since I essentially replicated the original mounting.

Put an end to our sticking float
Our old float kept getting hung up and the pump would stall when starting. Swapping in this universal unit cured the problem and everything returned to normal. The cord is long enough for deep pits or for use with another pump type.
