It’s been nearly a month since my last post — time flies! To make up for the silence, here’s a refreshing Summer Smoothie Snack recipe that’s perfect for hot days.
Life’s been busy here: final exams for two high schoolers, planning and hosting a graduation celebration for our eldest (about 100 guests), and preparing the house for visiting family and friends. We painted, planted, cleaned, and cooked — it was hectic but wonderful. I’ll share details from the party and the menu in a future post.
On top of that, I recently started a part-time role as the Cooking School Coordinator at a local kitchenware shop. I get to work with great tools and plan demo classes with local chefs — a fun and inspiring gig. I’ve also been posting easy summer recipes every Tuesday at EverydayFamily.com, so if you’re after simple seasonal ideas, check those out.
During summer I try to avoid heavy cooking. My warm-weather routine includes salads, crockpot dishes, yogurt and granola, and lots of smoothies. Smoothies are quick, nutritious, and endlessly adaptable: fruit, vegetables, nut butters, yogurt, milk — blend what you like. This particular recipe came from experimenting — a little of this and a little of that — and it turned out thick, filling, and nicely balanced.

This smoothie turned out on the thick side, which made it especially filling — great for when you want something satisfying but light. If you prefer a thinner texture, add more almond milk or a few ice cubes and re-blend.
Have a favorite flavor combination? I’d love to hear your ideas and try them!
