I did a lot of eating on my Regal Princess Caribbean cruise, but nothing compared to the Regal Princess Chef’s Table Lumiere dinner. It was an extraordinary culinary experience: multiple courses, carefully paired wines, a behind-the-scenes look at the ship’s galley, and a chance to talk with the chef. If you want an unforgettable dinner on the Regal Princess, the Chef’s Table Lumiere should be at the top of your list.

Our evening began with a warm introduction from Chef Shaun Candon. He described what it’s like to work aboard a large cruise ship and explained how the culinary team manages the day-to-day challenges of cooking for so many guests while maintaining high standards for taste, presentation and timing.

His enthusiasm was contagious—he genuinely loves his craft and it shows. That kind of passion translates directly into the quality of the food that came next.

We were given crisp white jackets to wear during the kitchen tour. It felt a little like stepping into a chef’s uniform and added a playful, immersive element to the evening.

While visiting the galley, we sampled a selection of appetizers and watched skilled chefs demonstrate impressive knife and carving techniques. The artistry behind every garnish and plate was evident—there’s a lot of talent packed into that kitchen.

Champagne marked the transition from the galley tour to our private dining area. Being led to our own special table, shielded from the main dining room, felt wonderfully indulgent. Course after course arrived, each one carefully plated and explained by the servers and the chef.

Having a dedicated tasting menu with paired wines elevated the whole dinner. The portions were generous enough to savor every flavor without feeling rushed, and each wine pairing complemented its course thoughtfully.

Of course I snuck in a selfie to remember the night. Small moments like that—good company, excellent food and the attentive service—made the evening memorable.

The desserts were spectacular. One chocolate creation in particular stood out: rich, beautifully textured and artfully presented. Another highlight was a sorbet that arrived with a playful flourish—a drizzle of tequila that brightened the flavors and added a delightful contrast.

Every course demonstrated the kitchen’s commitment to creativity and quality, and the service team moved smoothly through the dining room with genuine smiles and professionalism. The evening left a lasting impression—this is the kind of cruise dining experience I’ll happily recommend to friends and remember for years.

Seats for the Chef’s Table Lumiere are limited and often sell out, so if you’re planning a Regal Princess cruise, book the Chef’s Table early to secure your spot. It’s a premium dining event worth reserving in advance.
