“My kids love this dip. I only changed one thing in the recipe, I use chives instead of the green onion. When I make it I make a double batch, just so I can have some. Last year I made some for a birthday party and a fight nearly broke out over who got the last of it. By the way this was a pack of 12-14 year old girls.” – Mary

Healthy Garden Veggie Dip

This recipe elevates classic veggie dip by using fresh herbs and vegetables alongside simple dried seasonings. Instead of relying on powdered mixes, the fresh parsley, green onion, grated carrot, and tiny broccoli florets add texture and brightness that get soaked up by the creamy base.

I swapped traditional mayonnaise for plain nonfat Greek yogurt (with a touch of light sour cream) to keep the dip lighter without sacrificing creaminess. The result is a tangy, herby dip that works equally well with raw vegetables, pita chips, or tortilla chips.

This garden veggie dip is a go-to for game nights, showers, birthdays, holiday parties, and potlucks. It’s make-ahead friendly and tastes even better after spending time in the fridge, so plan ahead for maximum flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups light sour cream
  • ½ cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder or dried minced onion
  • ¼ tsp dried dill
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • 2 TBSP fresh chopped parsley
  • 2 TBSP fresh chopped green onion plus extra to taste
  • ¼ cup finely grated carrot (approx. 1/2 a carrot)
  • ¼ cup chopped broccoli florets

Delish Dippers:

  • carrots
  • broccoli
  • cauliflower
  • cucumber slices
  • celery sticks
  • bell pepper slices
  • pita chips
  • tortilla chips

Instructions

  • Shred the carrot on the fine side of a grater.
  • Trim the broccoli to use only the small florets—avoid using stems.
  • Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix until evenly distributed.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  • Refrigerate overnight when possible so the flavors meld. If desired, tweak seasonings the next day before serving.
  • Serve chilled with your favorite dippers and watch it disappear.

Notes

If you prefer not to use Greek yogurt, substitute ½ cup mayonnaise. Either option works well.

Store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

So … how was it?

Phenomenal. This dip feels like a hybrid of ranch and veggie dip with extra brightness from fresh herbs and vegetables. Instead of only serving veggies alongside the dip, folding small pieces of carrot, broccoli, and green onion into the dip adds flavor and texture that keeps guests coming back for more.

Because the flavors benefit from time in the fridge, this is a make-ahead recipe — perfect for saving time on the day of your event. Make it the night before so you can focus on other preparations while the flavors develop.
