Strong audio/video with handy playback controls
Very good video and sound plus useful features like resume playback and a volume adjustment to match other gear. The remote has a subtitle key and it handles NTSC and PAL discs in regions 1 and 2. Minor gripe: the display only shows four digits and restarts after 60 minutes. Remote takes a little getting used to; register early for the extended warranty.

Instant setup, impressive picture and sound
Plugged it in right out of the box — HDMI connected, batteries in the remote, and it was up and running in minutes. The remote is surprisingly capable, the image color and audio detail are excellent, and the unit feels solid and reliable.

Plug-and-play setup beats competitors
Compared this unit to another brand that required a Wi‑Fi setup during first boot. This player was simple plug-and-play with straightforward instructions. It includes composite cables but not batteries; HDMI was in the box and it has run DVDs all morning without issue.

Replaced an older brand — satisfied so far
