Why Aldi

To be clear, I am not affiliated with Aldi—I simply choose to shop there because it’s affordable and convenient. For years I found myself shopping at multiple stores for “extras,” which cost time and money. With my culinary background and commitment to budgeting, I decided to create recipes that use only Aldi ingredients. These meal plans are meant to be practical: healthy, budget-friendly, and easy to prepare. Use them as a weekly guide or as inspiration for inexpensive meals. You’ll find dinners, one-pot dishes and easy baking recipes among the options.

About the Aldi budget meal plan

Meal planning has been part of my life since childhood. Growing up in a single-parent household on a fixed income taught me how to avoid waste and make ingredients stretch. My professional training—a Cordon Bleu diploma and a decade in professional kitchens—helped me turn modest ingredients into satisfying meals. Those experiences shaped these meal plans, which aim to help you get more from less.

This plan includes six recipes using ingredients available at Aldi. That gives you flexibility: use leftovers for lunches, take one night off with a takeaway, or swap meals to fit your schedule. Along with recipes, the plan provides a clear shopping list and tips to maximise each ingredient.

I believe simple, accessible recipes are more important than ever. I enjoy creating these plans and hope you find them useful for saving time and money while eating well.

The Details

Recipes are scaled to serve a family of four. Some dishes yield leftovers suitable for a second dinner or lunches the next day. While no single plan suits everyone, I’ve aimed for variety and approachable flavours that should appeal broadly.

The included shopping list is comprehensive and covers everything required for the week. Because ingredients such as condiments, spices and sauces are used across multiple recipes, check your pantry first to avoid buying duplicates.

This meal plan is flexible and realistic—there’s room for snacks, dessert and an occasional night out. Feel free to swap meals or reorder days to match your schedule. If you try these plans, please share feedback so I know whether to keep creating them.
