Ham and cheese sandwiches baked with a flavorful butter-Dijon sauce on soft, squishy Hawaiian rolls.

Ham and cheese sliders are an easy, crowd-pleasing way to use up leftover ham. These sliders are simple to assemble and bake all at once, delivering melty cheese and savory ham tucked inside sweet Hawaiian rolls brushed with a buttery Dijon sauce. Kids and adults alike love them—those soft King’s Hawaiian-style buns make these sandwiches extra irresistible.

Ingredients for Ham and Cheese Sliders
- 12 King’s Hawaiian dinner rolls
- 9 oz deli ham, thinly sliced (or leftover ham)
- 8 oz Swiss cheese, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 3/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
- 2 teaspoons dried minced onion
Optional: Substitute the poppy seeds and dried minced onion with 1 tablespoon Everything Bagel seasoning. To make Hawaiian-style sliders, add 1 cup pineapple chunks (fresh or canned).
Prepare the Sauce
The Dijon butter sauce is a simple blend of melted butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, poppy seeds and dried minced onion. If you have Everything Bagel seasoning, it works well as a one-step swap for the poppy seeds and dried onion since it already contains those elements along with additional seasonings.

How to Make Ham and Cheese Sliders
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Whisk together the melted butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, poppy seeds and dried minced onion until combined. (Or use 1 tablespoon Everything Bagel seasoning instead of the poppy seeds and dried onion.)
- Slice all the rolls in half horizontally. Place the bottom halves in the prepared baking dish. Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise over the cut sides if desired. Layer the sliced ham and Swiss cheese over the bottoms. Add extra layers of ham and cheese if you like thicker sandwiches.
- Place the top halves of the rolls over the sandwiches.
- Pour the butter-Dijon sauce evenly over the tops of all the sliders so it soaks into the rolls.
- Bake for about 20 minutes, until the tops are lightly browned and the cheese is melted. Serve warm.

Tips for Success
- Scale up easily: this recipe makes 12 sliders—double or triple quantities to feed a larger crowd.
- Make ahead: assemble the sliders and refrigerate them wrapped until a few hours before baking. Wait to pour the butter sauce on until just before baking.
- Bring to a friend’s home: if transporting, call ahead so their oven is preheated to 350°F and pop the sliders in on arrival.
- Grease the baking dish bottom lightly so the rolls don’t stick.
- Leftovers: these sliders are perfect for using up holiday ham.
