Fun Party Idea

Start with a bottle of your favorite liquor and an empty milk carton sized to fit that bottle. As a guideline, a pint bottle fits well in a quart carton, while a 750 ml bottle fits in a half-gallon carton.

Cut the top off the carton and place the full bottle inside. Add decorative elements around the bottle before freezing — sliced citrus, herbs, edible flowers, small plastic cocktail decorations, or sparkling confetti all work well. Be mindful of edible choices if the decorations might come into contact with drinkware or glasses.

For this example I used mandarin, lemon, and lime slices arranged around the bottle. Slide the slices into place and use a knife or spatula to tuck them so they sit evenly around the bottle.

Pour water into the carton to cover the bottle base and the decorative items, then place the whole assembly in the freezer. Once frozen, you’ll have a solid block of ice encasing the bottle and decorations that serves as a striking, functional display for your beverage offerings.

When you set the frozen bottle block out, place it on a high-rimmed plate or tray to catch melting water and protect your table surface as it thaws.

Cheers!
