Cassava Flour Sugar Cookies are a delightful addition to any holiday cookie swap or family gathering. These cookies are gluten-free, dairy-free, and egg-free, yet they bake up tender, hold their shape, and taste like a classic sugar cookie. With a little icing and sprinkles you can decorate them any way you like—perfect for cookie exchanges, lunchboxes, or leaving out for Santa.
I don’t bake cookies all that often—I’m more of a granola and bread-and-waffle person—but this year I had a strong craving for a good Paleo sugar cookie. Seeing so many cookie photos across social media pushed me to try a simpler, healthier version. The result? A fast, fuss-free cookie that checks a lot of boxes.
The recipe uses just seven ingredients, many of which you may already have in your pantry. The dough comes together quickly and bakes in about 10 minutes, leaving warm, lightly golden cookies ready to decorate. Best of all, they’re satisfying without the heaviness or bloated feeling that can follow traditional cookies.

Cookie swaps are a big tradition in the U.S., where friends gather to bake and exchange batches of cookies. I hadn’t joined one in years, but I remember fondly the cookie parties my cousin’s mother-in-law used to host back in college—everyone brought ingredients, we baked together, and left with tins full of a dozen different cookies. It was social, delicious, and a lot of fun. Maybe it’s time to revive that tradition again.
I miss those days and hope to start baking with friends again soon. Meanwhile, these cassava cookies are a great option to bring to any swap or holiday party.
If you’re attending a cookie swap or making treats for the holidays, these cookies are an excellent choice. They decorate just like traditional sugar cookies, so use them as a blank canvas for red, green, and white icing and sprinkles. They look festive, taste great, and offer a lighter alternative to conventional recipes.
I picked up a few decorating tools and sprinkles to make these extra festive. These Cassava Flour Sugar Cookies are:
