Product review
These MK8 drive gears come as a set of five identical pieces intended for use in 3D printer extruders. Each gear is machined from stainless steel and features deep-cut grooves to engage 1.75 mm filament. The robust material helps resist wear compared with softer alloys.
Dimensions are: outer diameter 9 mm, effective diameter approximately 7 mm where the filament contacts the teeth, overall height 11 mm, and a 5 mm shaft bore to fit standard extruder shafts. They are intended for direct-drive configurations and replace existing MK8-style puller gears without needing gear or motor recalibration.
In use, the toothed profile is meant to grip and advance filament through the feeder and into the PTFE/PTFE-lined path or hotend. The pack contains 5 x MK8 drive gears so you have spares for multiple builds or future maintenance.
Pros
- Designed for 1.75 mm filament with deep grooves
- Drop-in replacement; no recalibration needed
- Durable stainless steel construction
Cons
- Some units show inconsistent machining
- Teeth can be too smooth for sticky filaments
- Not always reliable with PETG or soft materials
VerdictSolid option when you need a straightforward replacement for MK8-style extruder drives: stainless steel construction and pronounced grooves work well for standard 1.75 mm filament and the dimensions match common shafts. Most users get a quick, no-adjustment swap, though a minority report inconsistent machining and reduced bite on certain filaments like PETG. Overall, useful for routine builds and

Teeth too smooth for some filaments
The teeth appear smoothed (likely tumbled), so PETG and PLA tend to slip and feeding becomes unreliable.

Machining seems off
They look used or poorly machined — I see flat spots where teeth should be. Not enough grip for 1.75 mm filament.

Reliable for new builds
I've bought these drive gears twice; I use them when assembling new printers and they perform reliably.

Fits Ender 3 Pro shaft but slips filament
Fits the Ender 3 Pro extruder shaft, but it doesn't bite 1.75 mm filament enough. The filament can be pulled out without the motor moving and it slips in the PTFE tube.
