Product review
This product is a single 33.1 ounce canister of Maxwell House Original Roast, filled with pre-ground medium-roast coffee. The grounds are produced from roasted coffee beans and packaged to supply many servings for regular use.
The canister format makes it straightforward to store in a pantry; the quantity supports multiple weeks of brewing for typical households. It’s intended for standard brewing equipment — automatic drip machines, pour-over cones, French press, or even for making iced coffee when cooled and strained.
For brewing guidance, use your usual ratio (many people opt for roughly one to two tablespoons per six ounces of water) and adjust to taste. The coffee’s medium roast profile is designed to be drinkable black or with milk and sweetener, and it releases a pronounced aroma as it brews.
Pros
- Consistent, smooth medium roast
- Large 33.1 oz container for multiple brews
- Versatile across brewing methods
Cons
- Pre-ground limits freshness window
- Generic flavor may not suit specialty palates
- Canister size may be large for occasional drinkers
VerdictA consistent, approachable medium-roast ground coffee supplied in a sizeable 33.1 oz canister. It delivers a smooth, crowd-pleasing cup without harsh acidity, performs well across brewing methods, and suits those who want reliable, everyday coffee.

I Love Labs 5/5
Our daily choice for decades
My husband and I brew several pots every day and this has been our steady go-to for about 40 years. We usually stick to classics rather than flavored blends, though a seasonal sweet flavor now and then is nice. Maxwell House has stayed reliable in taste and quality through the years. We measure each 14-cup pot with roughly a one-third cup scoop of grounds. Long ago I learned from a restaurant job to add a tiny pinch of salt to the grounds — it seems to take the edge off bitterness, and I’ve kept doing it. The morning aroma is wonderful, and I enjoy it black or with a splash of cream. The medium roast is our favorite.

Great flavor and sensible quantity
I enjoy this coffee and find the medium blend suits my preference for black coffee. The product delivers consistent taste and the can’s size stretches further than many alternatives, offering strong everyday value compared with other options.

Rich, smooth, and versatile
This exceeded my expectations. It brews into a rich, smooth cup without bitterness and smells great while brewing. It balances strength well — not overpowering, not weak — and works equally well black or with cream. No burnt or acidic aftertaste, and it holds up for iced coffee too. A reliable, high-quality everyday coffee that I’ll order again.

A loud, playful endorsement (and a confession)
I’ll be dramatic: this coffee is terrific and feels very American in spirit. People joke that it tastes like freedom — and it does have a bold, straightforward character. Full disclosure: I don’t personally rely on coffee for energy; I run on bottled soda. But for those who drink coffee, this one is smooth, robust, and comes in a generous 33.1 oz canister that keeps you supplied for a while.
